Jon Willis: High School Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Jon Willis grew up in Eugene, Oregon and now lives in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee with his wife, Elaine and his two sons (Justus and Jordan). He has been a teacher and coach at MJCA since 2010. Coach Willis graduated from the University of Oregon (1991) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. He then went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Wyoming (1997). He played high school basketball for Marist High School, where his team won the Oregon State Championship in 1982. Jon went on to play his collegiate ball at Northwest Christian College, where he won a national championship (NBCAA) and was named All-American all four years (1983-1986). After college, Jon went on to play professional basketball in Germany for 4 years.

From 1996-1999, he taught Math and coached basketball at Wheatland High School in Wyoming. in 1999, Coach Willis was named Class 3-A coach of the year. He coached 3 years of middle school basketball at MJCA, before joining Coach Christensen’s staff in 2013.
